Tone Deaf Challenge

We are less than one week away from the start of the 4th Season of the Tone Deaf Challenge and I’m pretty excited that we’re in our 4th season!  There are going to be a few changes for this season.

The big change is going to be the start time… which is changing to 9:30 PM.  Keep in mind that we’re trying to start the game at 9:30 PM.  That means you’ll have to be there to sign up before that time.  I’d suggest being there between 8:30 and 9:00 PM to reserve your spot.  We’re trying to have some interactive games before we get started each week (with prizes)!

Why the time change?  We’re trying to look at this from the ‘working man’s perspective.’  Most people have jobs that have them working from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM.  They need to get to bed early and we are going to try to be accomodating.  By starting the game at 9:30, we’ll be able to finish up around 11:30 (or even a little earlier).  This’ll get those people home and in bed by midnight. 

I understand that 9:30 will be cutting it close for some people.  For this reason, if you know you’ll be stuck at work or will be late, I’ll accept online sign-ups for the game.  Those will have to be in the day before.  Remember, you can still come into the game a little late.  You will just miss the early rounds.

The other changes involve what we tried tonight.  The ‘Second Chance Chip’ works, but the gameplay needs tweaked.  No longer can it be used in ‘The Comeback.’  It has to be used during one of the regular rounds of the game.

The ‘Underdog Lightning Round’ also worked… (Well, kinda… I am definitely rusty at PLAYING the game.)  That will stick around.  That might get tweaked a little bit as I have something in mind.  We’ll see.

Next week, look for the return of the Lyrics Pyramid as we start the 4th Season of the Tone Deaf Challenge.

Remember, be there early as we’ll be starting at 9:30 PM!

Even though my schedule changes way too much, I’m going to go ahead and post the Season 4 Tone Deaf Challenge schedule anyway.

Keep in mind that this schedule can (and probably will) change during the season!

CHAMPIONSHIP – NOVEMBER 12TH

*I won’t be there these weeks.  This will likely work like in the past.  You’ll have to find out your score and leave a comment to get your championship points.

I’m still looking to change something for this season but I don’t know what yet.  As I wrote this, the brain went into overdrive and I came up with a few ideas… 

I know that the Lightning Rounds will be following the alphabet.  The first one will have an artist starting with A.  The next one will be a B-artist.  Then C… You get the picture.  I’m not sure if we’re going to do the ‘Underdog Lightning Round’ that I talked about before.  We may try it tonight to see if it works.

I just thought of something new, too.  Before the game starts (during the announcements), I’ll give you a lyric to a song.  If you know it and tell me the song when you sign up, you’ll get 10 points right out of the gate.  We’ll also try that tonight!

One last change is something called the ‘Second Chance Chip.’  Each team will get one at the beginning of the game.  This chip will give you the chance to take a second guess at a title OR artist (not both).  The chip is NOT good for the lightning rounds or lyrics rounds, however.  If you save it until the end, you can use it for ‘The Comeback.’  If you raise your hand and give a wrong answer, you can give another guess.  If the other player beats you, you can use your chip to stick around for the next song.  How will you play the chip?  It’s up to you.  I’ll try this tonight and see how it works.  If it works well, we might put it into the game.
